This month’s Grounds of Being theological discussion will begin 30 minutes later than usual, at 10:30am instead of 10:00am, because Pastor T. C. is guest speaking for Redeemer Moravian (Philadelphia) over Zoom, since Pastor Nasel Ephraim is on sabbatical. REST SUNDAY
This Sunday, the 29th, is a fifth Sunday, which means it’s a Rest Sunday! As you know, Roots has a unique monthly worship rhythm. On the first Sunday of the month, we gather in small groups. We call this week, “Journey Groups Sunday.” There are currently two Journey Groups: 1. Grounds of Being – a theology discussion group that meets at SK Coffee, and 2. Salt+Light Sunday (Fellowship)
Join other misfits for worship as we continue exploring the Sermon on the Mount (Matthew 5–7). This week’s text is Matthew 5:13–16 – “Salt & Light” Pastors T. C. & Osheta will be leading worship and Shanita John will be leading in musical worship. There will be space made for dialogue, blessing of children, and the Moravian “lovefeast” tradition.
Misfits in the Park – Center of Gravity, Week 4
Join other misfits for an outdoor worship gathering at Newell Park, starting at 10am. Pastor Osheta will be teaching on Matthew 5:6 – “Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for justice.” There will be space for dialogue, congregational singing, and holy communion. *The weather is forecasted to be hot and humid, so please prepare yourself.
