I Find it Hard to Say by Lauryn Hill
In this message, Pastor T. C. talks about the themes of lament and formation for service in the midst of two epidemics: Covid-19 and Covid-1619 (the epidemic of anti-Black racism that has plagued the U.S. since the first slave ship arrived in 1619). The song for this week is “I Find it Hard to Say (Rebel)” by Lauryn Hill, from her “Unplugged” album. It was written after Amadou Diallo was killed by police in New York.
Women of Romans
In this message, Pastor Osheta continues our exploration of the house churches of Rome from Romans chapter 16 with a deeper dive into some important female leaders, three of whom are Phoebe, Priscilla, and Junia.
Subversive Peace
This is the first message in a new teaching series, exploring the letter to the church at Rome, written by the apostle Paul/Saul. In this message, Pastor T. C. introduces the series and explains why reading Romans “backwards” helps keep the theology of the letter in its social and ecclesial contexts, as well as making it more easily applicable in our contemporary contexts.
